Top Apps You Need as a Small Business Owner

As a small business owner, a lot of your work behind the scenes is online whether that be on your computer, phone, iPad etc. Below I compiled a list of all of my favorite apps that I keep on my phone so I can easily access them. The best part about it is, they're all free!
Note: I use all of these apps almost every single day for my small business!

Staying Updated with your Shop:

1. Shopify - Your Ecommerce Store:

If you sell your products using Shopify, the mobile app is a MUST! You can easily make changes to your site, update inventory and even check your analytics all on your handheld device. When you receive an order, Shopify will alert you with a notification and a “cha-ching!” sound so you can always stay up to date on your orders throughout the day. For creating and editing your shop, a laptop or desktop is recommended, but for those quick fixes or check-ins, the mobile app is perfect!

2. Sell on Etsy:

Sell on Etsy is great for people who have an Etsy account. I use both Shopify and Etsy to sell my product (mainly Shopify), but I do still get orders from Etsy. It’s a similar concept to the Shopify app where you can stay updated on all your store activity. Since customers message your shop through Etsy (not through email like Shopify), you can reply directly from the app making your response time quicker which increases your ratings!

Editing Photos & Videos:

3. Lightroom Mobile App:

Lightroom is my favorite app for my small business! I use it to edit all of my product photos, Instagram posts, and Pinterest pictures. You can create your own presets or buy them and download them directly to the app. With the simple click of a button, the presets can be applied to any of your photos! Having uniform photos makes for a more coherent and aesthetic social media feed and website.

4. InShot:

Tik Tok and Instagram Reels have become a big part of my business's social media which means lots of videos! To edit my videos, I never edit them on Instagram or the Tik Tok app. I prerecorded all my content, saved it to my camera roll, and compile it all in the InShot App. Since I don’t do any crazy editing, I use it mostly for putting a string of videos together, transitions, adding music, and voice-overs. There are a lot of other features available, but I just use the basics! I do pay the $12 a month for the premium subscription, but since I use this app so often it's worth it for me! If you are not wanting to pay, don’t worry, InShot is completely free!

5. Canva:

If you have a small business, odds are you have heard of Canva. Canva is another app where you can edit photos or design about anything imaginable! If you don't have time to create from scratch, Canva offers tons of free templates you can use. Some examples of templates Canva offers are; Instagram posts, Instagram stories, Tik Tok videos, reels, Shopify/Etsy headers, etc. Just search for whatever you need on the template page and it will probably pop up! Canva is great for creating high-quality social media posts, but I also use it to design a lot of my apparel.

Social Media

6. Instagram:

Social media has become a HUGE asset when trying to grow your business. 99% of my sales come from social media! I don’t pay for any advertising or off-site ads. Learning how to utilize social media is very important in this day and age. I use Instagram every day. I consistently post reels, pictures, and stories. Engaging with your customer base helps growth, which in turn can lead to sales.

7. Tik Tok:

Like Instagram, Tik Tok is another social media platform that can do wonders for your business. My shop actually blew up back in November 2020 because of one Tik Tok! Posting three times a day increases your chances of a video going viral, but posting that often takes a lot of time. It may help to create batch content so you don't have to worry about filming multiple times a day.

Is there a way to link etsy & shopify for inventory purposes & to have both websites with the same inventory? How do you keep track if you sell something off shopify? Manually remove from esty?
